Description

with foliate carving and fluted decoration, later painted
Condition
The candlestick have been repainted and gilded but this decoration is now dirty, flaking and worn and there are some significant losses which are not visible in the catalogue illustration especially on one of the candlesticks revealing the red bole beneath. There are many repaired breaks throughout. There are some old minor woodworm holes especially to the bases. Colour overall slightly darker than in the catalogue illustration and in reality one is slightly paler in colour than the other. These are late 18th century as opposed to mid 18th century as stated in the catalogue. The decoration in need of some attention.
