A large and impressive Murano glass mirror circa 1780

the rectangular plate surmounted by a moulded flowerhead and leaf decorated crest flanked by pierced C-scrolls, the marginal plates etched with putti and scrolling foliage

This is a very decorative lot but it has many of the types of wear and damage that one can expect to see on such a fragile piece. There are some losses to the moulded decoration and a few detached parts. Some parts have been re-attached with later screws or glue. A lot of the floral and foliate decoration is chipped. The main mirror plate has been replaced the original plates have varying degrees of wear to the silvering. Please alse see the sale room notice: This lot should be dated as 1880 not 1780.
