Catalogue Note

The original designs of 1763 by François Boucher were later modified by Maurice Jacques, between 1772 and 1775, for a set of hangings woven in a private atelier of the Royal Gobelins workshops in 1779. For this see, M. Maurice Fenaille, L'Etat des Tapisseries de la Manufacture des Gobelins, Paris, 1923, vol. IV, pp. 301-304.

The present tapestry is woven in reverse to the original design.
