A pair of Swedish Neoclassical ormolu and patinated bronze, porhyry and white marble two-light candelabra circa 1800

Description

  • height 18 1/2 in.; width 9 in.
  • 47 cm; 23 cm
each with a patinated  bronze female figure crowned with a basket of flowers on a pillow, the figure holding scrolling turned leaf-cast candle-arms on either side above a cylindrical porphyry base mounted with vestals on a square base.

Condition

One of the bobèches has gone missing during the exhibition. Rubbing to the gilding. With some traces of polish on the ormolu and patinated bronze surfaces. Loss of patina to the female figures. Small chips to the porphyry pedestals with a slightly larger at the base of one. Very minor chips to the marble. In othewise good condition.
