Description

  • Zhang Daqian (Chang Dai-chien, 1899-1983)
  • VARIOUS SUBJECTS; CALLIGRAPHY
  • ink on paper; ink and colour on paper, mounted on eight-panel Japanese screen

twice signed ZHANG DAQIAN YUAN, twice DAQIAN JUSHI YUAN or YUAN, one dated ding you, 1957, the tenth lunar month; two dated wu xu, 1958, the first day of the first lunar month, one leaf inscribed, dedicated to the artist's Japanese mistress Ms. Yamada, and with a total of eight seals of the artist

Condition

- Nicely mounted on Japanese style screen. - The topmost layer of a small section of paper was removed in the first screen on the right as seen in the illustration. However since the artist's seal was top of that area, thus the paper loss should already exist when Zhang Daqian painted the screen, or was deliberately removed by the artist, thus should not be considered as a condition problem. Otherwise, generally in very good condition.
