the deep rounded sides rising to an everted rim, painted around the sides with four roundels, each enclosing a bird perched on a leafy flowering spray of prunus, chrysanthemum, rose and lotus, the birds naturalistically rendered and captured in different poses, all reserved on a rich yellow-ground decorated with lotus scrolls, the mouth and foot rims gilt, the base inscribed with the six-character seal mark in underglaze-blue

There is expected rubbing to the gilding, but otherwise the piece is overall in good condition. There is a natural crackling to the yellow glaze, and natural slight bubbling to the white enamel. There are three ironspots on the interior.
