A LARGE 'FAMILLE-ROSE' VASE SEAL MARK AND PERIOD OF QIANLONG

well potted of quatrelobed section, the ovoid body sitting on a splayed foot and rising to a flared mouth, the sides with four oval panels painted in soft 'famille-rose' enamels enclosing tranquil landscape scenes, with figures engaged in various pursuits beside wide rivers with rippling surfaces, running past scattered trees and pavilions and high mountain peaks in the distance, with raised gilt borders, all reserved on a ground decorated with stylised lotus scrolls, with a raised band at the shoulder between a floral scroll and a key fret band, and a band of ruyi heads below the gilt mouthrim, the foot with a further key fret, the base glazed turqouise and with a central square reserved in white for the six-character mark in underglaze-blue

The foot has been ground down slightly and two of the raised oval frames on the body have a couple of minor chips that have been repainted with gilt-paint. The gilding of the mouthrim may also have been lightly re-painted in areas. The enameling is in very good condition. There is a minor superficial firing crack to the inner foot diagonally across the base, but not going all the way through the body. The overall condition is still quite good.
