Description
each with rounded sides everting at the rim, the very white porcelain painted on the exterior in brilliant enamels of flowers including white roses borne on a thorny branch, asters, and bright magenta mallow-like flowers, the interior centred with a ribbon-tied feather fan and a pink umbrella, all against a plain ground
Condition
To one bowl, there is short fine hairline crack stemming down from the rim, of approx 1.5cm. To the other bowl, there are a couple small enamel flakes to the exterior. Otherwise the overall condition of the pair is very good. The bowls are very well matched in terms of size and painting.

Compare a pair of bowls of Yongzheng reign mark and period, painted with related decoration of flowers and leaves, but of different form, included in the exhibition Ch'ing Porcelain from the Wah Kwong Collection, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1973, cat.no.103. Two other related pairs of bowls were sold in these rooms, 30th April 1996, lot 495, and 27th April 1999, lot 447.
