consisting of three layers fitted on top with a flat cover carved with scholars gathered in a rock garden pursuing the "Four Scholarly Accomplishments', including practising calligraphy, appreciating painting, playing the qin and playing chess, the sides of each of the tiers carved with a continuous composite flower scroll consisting of prunus and peonies, the interior and base lacquered in black

Condition
The overall condition is very good with only some minor chips and losses to the corners on the interior and exterior, age cracks, and slight shrinkage to the cover.
