Description

the deep rounded sides resting on a short foot and rising to an everted rim, painted around the sides in vibrant tones of underglaze-blue with large lotus blooms issuing from feathery scrolls, each bloom emanating a pair of lotus leaves, all above a band of overlapping lappets, the interior painted on the centre with a lotus bloom surrounded by further leaves and feathery scrolls, the sides similarly decorated to the exterior, all below a further lotus scroll band, the base inscribed with the six-character mark in underglaze-blue within a double-circle

Condition

The rim of the bowl has a 10 short hairline cracks, eight of which are under one cm and two that are a little longer (2 cm and 4cm). The foot has a two minor original firing flaws. The cobalt is very bright and the glaze is very glossy. The interior has a few faint glaze scratches.
