Description
the small waterpot of round form, exquisitely carved as a pine trunk, one side with knobby branch issuing a veil of needle clusters borne on smaller branches carved in openwork detail, the interior left plain, honey-brown color and deep patina, 18th century, Japanese wood box; the brushrest naturalistically and deftly carved as a laterally oriented pine branch accentuated with bark, with smaller 'windswept' branches growing circular needle clusters, bamboo of coffee-brown color, 18th / 19th century, stand (4)
