Description
the cylindrical vessel superbly carved in bold relief depicting various layers of curled lotus leaves and one blossom issuing from two openwork stems, a crab nesting within the folds of a leaf, its eyes inlaid with horn, the bamboo of a warm reddish tone, the attached wood base with ruyi-bracket feet, wood box (2)

Condition
The brushpot has a vertical zitan splice running the height, and a small vertical stress crack has been filled in with glue. Small cracks near the lotus flower and the foot. The base is not original to the vessel. In good overall condition.
