Description

the wakizashi, iorimune, torii-zori, chugissaki with hakikake, notare hamon (undulating tempering edge) on mokume hada, some sunagashi, signed Hizen Kuni ju Fujiwara Tadahiro, the reverse dated Kanei 8 nen (1631), nigatsu kichi jitsu; the unsigned katana, iorimune, torii-zori, chugissaki with a suguha (straight tempering edge) and one carved bohi (groove), suriage with three mekugi ana; the lacquer sword stand decorated in gold hiramaki-e with aoi-mon (hollyhock Tokugawa family crests) on a nashiji ground decorated with scrolling foliage, to hold three swords (3)

Condition

The wakizashi and katana are in good condition. Lacquer stand - There are three areas of ground lacquer losses (each approx. 2 x 1in., 1-1/2 x 1/2 in. and 2 x 2 in.), and there is a lacquer crack of about 1-1/2 in. just above the lacquer loss. There are several other minor lacquer losses.
