Description

each with globular body and trumpet neck, all supported on a short foot, the body decorated with four phoenix in red and yellow separated by stylized lotus scrolls, above a lappet border at the foot, a collar at the shoulder with gilt borders enclosing two striding iron-red dragons in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl', the neck decorated with the bajixiang ('Eight Buddhist Emblems') along two registers, a ruyi-head band below the mouth, six-character mark in iron-red to the base (2)

Condition

One of the vases has a horizontal section of firing flaws at the mid-section of the neck, the largest 1/4 inch long. It also has a small chip to the mouth rim (perhaps caused by a firing flaw) approximately 3/8 inch long. The gilt enamel along the mouth rim appears slightly runny on both. In good overall condition.
