a flambe-glazed hexalobed vase Daoguang Incised seal mark and period
Estimate
15,000 - 20,000 USD
bidding is closed
Description
the globular body rising from a slightly flared foot, accentuated with six evenly spaced vertical lobes, the upright neck curving out at the rim to form a foliate mouth, with a brilliant purple-ruby glaze applied to the exterior, contrasting with the thick lavender-blue glaze at the mouth and interior of the neck streaking down the lobes, the recessed base applied with a café-au-lait glaze
Condition
The vase is in good overall condition with very minor expected pock-marks to the glaze as a result of the craquelure. There is one tiny old glaze chip to the mouth rim, barely negligible, approximately 1/8 inch wide.
