Description
the globular jar with swelling shoulder, above a waisted foot, the body decorated with applied motifs and glazed in turquoise, aubergine and mustard-yellow on a dark-blue ground with four scholars in a landscape, the reverse with the arrival of two additional scholars with two attendants before a curtained platform and scrolling clouds, the collar with the bajixiang ('Eight Buddhist Emblems') enclosed within ruyi-head lappets, the foot encircled by a border of modified lotus petals, wood cover and stand (3)

neck lost, edge inpainted, two restored cracks descending from neck, scattered abrasions and scratches to extremities of surface
