Description
of circular form, the cover deeply carved through the black and red lacquer with a central stylised four-petal flower encircled by three registers of ruyi, the box with a single ruyi band, all supported on a short tapering foot, the interior and base lacquered black
Condition
The box and cover has restoration including: (cover) restoration to a circa 12cm., wide crescent-shaped section of the rim, overpainting to the entire edge of the rim, restoration to a 5 x 1.5cm., section of the top of the cover, extensive hairline age cracks, the interior is re-lacquered black; (base) the interior of the base and base are both re-lacquered, a similar circa 12cnm., wide crescent-shaped section of the rim is restored, the foot has been re-lacquered and has chipping to a 4cm., wide section, extensive hairline age cracks.
