Description

the shallow curved sides rising from a concave base, finely moulded to the interior with a melon medallion encircled by overlapping stiff lotus leaves in the well, covered overall with a transparent ivory glaze pooling in characteristic teardrops down the exterior, 10cm., 4in; together with a similarly glazed 'Huozhou' foliate-rimmed dish, Jin Dynasty, moulded to the interior with a floral medallion encircled by a band of birds amidst waves, the rim metal bound

Condition

'Melon' dish: In good overall condition with iron spots. A 1 cm scratch to the exterior surface. Foliate dish: Good overall condition with a 1.1 cm hairline crack from the rim. There are traces of black pigment on the unglazed section of the interior, appearing to be radiating from the central medallion.
