Description
the baluster body rising from a recessed base to a short narrow ribbed neck with everted rolled rim, covered overall with a rich lustrous brown-black glaze and freely painted in russet slip with two large stylised birds in flight
Condition
The jar is in good overall condition with the exception of some minor firing imperfections including a 7mm. diam. shallow hole to the side of the body, glaze pulls, pinhead-sized glaze holes and glaze scratches. It should be noted that the russet splashes appear slightly more vivid in the catalogue illustration than under normal lighting conditions.
