woven in coloured silk with a large rock amidst foaming waves flanked by a pair of celestial horses, all below a large lotus flower head surrounded by 'Precious Objects' and ruyi-head cloud scrolls reserved on a reddish-brown ground, mounted on a stretcher

There are several areas of repair and one area of loss (3.5cm by 1.5cm) to the central lotus. There is also a 5cm by 5cm area of repair to the scroll to the right of the lotus and another 4cm by 3cm area below this. There is a 6cm by 3cm area of fraying to the lower centre and some light fraying throughout. There is some staining in various areas, above the right hand horse, tot he left side of the lotus and to areas in the upper right and left section. The piece has been sown on to a later backing and mounted onto a stretcher.
