Description
each with deep rounded sides moulded around the lower body with overlapping lotus lappets rising from a short straight foot to an everted foliate rim, one painted around the exterior in rich cobalt-blue tones with birds in a lotus pond, the other with dragons and horses amidst tumultuous foaming waves, apocryphal Xuande and Chenghua marks
Condition
The two bowls are in good overall condition with the exception of a 2cm., firing line to the side of one and a 5mm firing line to the foot, a tiny hairline crack and associated 2cm., bruise to the bottom of the foot of the other, both have minor rim fritting, some firing imperfections including iron-spot glaze imperfections, pinhead-sized glaze holes and light glaze scratches.
