A SILK KESI FRAGMENT MING DYNASTY, WANLI PERIOD

vivdly woven in brightly coloured silk with a large shou character above rocks and waves and flanked by a pair of cranes in flight, all amidst ruyi-head cloud scrolls and reserved on a reddish-brown ground, framed

This fragment is generally in good condition, but has had a 1.5cm by 1cm area of re-stitching to the upper right hand corner. There is also some areas of fraying throughout and two areas of staining to thre red ground to the left side and another area to the red wave to the centre. The fragment has been sown to a later backing and mounted onto a stretcher and framed within a perspex case, which is cracked to the lower left side.
