each naturalistically modelled standing, the red-crested head raised on a long graceful arched neck turned to the side, the feathers on the body enamelled in bright white with scale-shaped cloisons, the wing feathers neatly folded to the sides of the plump white body, highlighted in grey, black, blue and yellow enamels and the feet and beaks gilt

The cranes are in overall good condition. There is very light loss to the enamal to the tips fo the tail feathers which are also lightly dented on both cranes. The gilding on the legs and beak is slightly rubbed. The beaks of both birds are slightly bent and both birds are missig their candle sconces.
