Theis brightly enamelled and rare dish has been restored and over-painted to approximately 2/3 of the interior and exterior; the restoration in part covers a 12cm., wide crescent-shaped break at the rim.

For a dish with the same arms but slightly different decoration, see one included in the exhibition Caminhos da Porcelana, Fundcao Oriente, Lisbon, 1998, Catalogue no.42, where the author notes that the arms are attributed to Dom Luis Peregrino de Ataide (1700-1758) the 10th Count of Atouguia, a member of the Council of King Joao V; and that the decoration was inspired by the drawings of the French artist and decorator Jean-Louis Berain, used at the beginning of the 18th Century to decorate rooms and objetcs.
