Description

of deep hollowed U-shape, carved in low relief around the exterior with a geometric ruyi band, the base carved in high relief with a monster mask, the horns of the monster forming the lower part of the handle, the upper handle in the form of a large sinuous chilong, a smaller chilong clambers down the front of the vessel, the stone of pale grey tone with speckled lighter inclusions

Condition

The rhyton is in very good overall condition with the exception of a tiny nick to the rim.
