Description
comprising a powerful and fiercely modelled seated male lion with brocade ball and matching female with cub, both with tightly scrolling manes and bell and tassel-ornamented bands across their broad chests, each with rectangular stands modelled with brocade covers, the sides of the bases with lotus-petal-framed panels lotus-scroll and ruyi-head scrollwork, the spreading foot modelled with ruyi-head cloud border, one inscribed Courses De Printemps, Peking, 1902 and the other Prix Offert Par M Bau, 1902
Condition
These lions are generally in good condition, howver the surfaces of each have been lacquered, some of which has worn. There is a crack to the centre top surface of each base.
