Description

of circular form, set at the back with a long plait and surmounted by a gilt-mounted blue bead finial, 26cm., 10 1/4 in; together with four gilt-metal and filigree hat finials, and a pair of ladies shoes

Provenance

From a European noble family acquired in China in 1900 and hence in the family by descent.

Condition

The hat is generally in good condition, however there are three splits to the back area of the silk inner section of the exterior. There has also been some loss of fur to about half the upper rim, which has exposed it in three main areas. There is also some wear to the fur on the underside rim.
