Description
the finely worked blue gauze robe decorated in gold and copper thread with a multi-coloured design of dragons in pursuit of a 'flaming pearls' amongst cloud scrolls, auspicious emblems and crane, above a border of crested waves
Provenance
From a European noble family acquired in China in 1900 and hence in the family by descent.
Condition
This robe is in good condition, the colours are generally bright. There are areas of fraying/thinning oft the material to the lower area on the reverse and three main areas (5cm by 1cm, 3cm by 3cm and 3cm by 2cm). There is also some light areas of fraying to the lower areas of the front and back, where some of the threads have run.
