Description

the compressed globular body with a short waisted neck and set with two loop handles, all supported on three sturdy feet, the base cast with an apocryphal Xuande six-character mark within a recessed rectangle

Provenance

From a private European collection. Acquired in London in the 1960s.

Condition

The censer is in good overall condition with the exception of a line (5cm.) of nicks to the shoulder of the body and similarly to one handle, the top of the same handle also has some shallow dents. The patination is slightly uneven with darker patches predominatly to one side.
