Description

the compressed globular body rising from a spreading foot, the sides applied with loop handles, the bronze patinated to a rich brown tone and splashed overall with matte gold dapples of varying sizes, the base cast with a recessed square with an apocryphal sixteen-character Xuande mark, matching circular stand on three feet

Provenance

From the Daae Collection

Condition

The censer and stand are in very good overall condition, with the exception of: the censer has a tiny dent (circa 2-3mm.) to the rim, very light scratches around the exterior, and the gold splashes appear slightly dull and may benefit from cleaning; the stand is in similarly good condition with light rubbing to the interior. It should be noted that the stand is of a slightly lighter tone and larger size than the foot of the censer and may therefore be matched.
