Description

the globular body supported on three cabriole legs issuing from gilt-bronze lion masks and rising to a short straight neck with everted rim, brightly decorated around the exterior with Indian lotus strapwork reserved on a turquoise ground and set at the shoulder with a pair of long S-shaped handles similarly decorated and gilt, the domed cover finely cast in gilt-bronze with three ruyi-shaped cloisonne panels enclosing lotus strapwork reserved on a pierced cloud-scroll ground, all surmounted by an elaborate pierced gilt-bronze foliate knop

Condition

This censer is generally in good condition, but has one area 1.5cm diameter to the front of repaired enamel, where the pieces has been dented. There is also another small area 1cm by 3mm of repair to the turquoise ground enamel to the right of one of the lotus under the right handle. There is some wear to the underside of the feet.
