A 'FAMILLE-ROSE' TUREEN AND COVER QING DYNASTY, YONGZHENG PERIOD

Estimate
7,000 - 9,000 GBP
bidding is closed

Description

of circular form, the deep rounded sides brightly enamelled around the exterior with figures in courtyard gardens, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a lotus-bud finial

Condition

The tureen is in good overall condition with the exception of a 15mm., wide flake to the outside edge of the rim, minor glaze firing imperfections including iron-spots, burst glaze bubbles and tiny blisters, and glaze and enamel scratches. The matched cover has over-painting to the entire inner flange. Otherwise the tureen and cover are in good overall condition and it should be noted that the enamels are of brighter and stronger tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
