Description
the globular central section rising from a tall spreading foot and surmounted by a tall trumpet neck, painted around the exterior with two large bands enclosing deer amidst rocks and pine and divided around the central section with two large bamboo sprays, the base with an apocryphal Chenghua mark
Condition
The vase is in generally good condition with the exception of fritting to the edge of the base, some pitting to the glaze to the interior and exterior, a small iron spot to the exterior below the rim and light glaze scratches. It should be noted that the cobalt-blue is of a far stronger and deeper tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
