Description

Provenance

Collection of Captain M.Hatcher

Christie's Amsterdam, 14th February 1985, lot 226

Condition

This rare night light is in very good condition with the exception of two glaze firing imperfections, one just above the cat's nose (4mm., diam.,) where a piece of china stone has pierced through the glaze, and a 3mm. diam glaze frit on the chin, minor short hairline firing lines, a firing crack encircling the upper part of the base (8cm., long), a 2cm., long firing crack to the base, adhered kiln grit around the edge of the base, and some minor glaze scratching and pitting to the glaze. It should be noted that the cobalt blue is of a slightly richer tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
