A RARE 'YUE' CARVED CELADON JAR FIVE DYNASTIES

the deep almost globular body rising from a short spreading foot to an incurved rim, finely carved and incised around the exterior with five rows of over-lapping stiff leaves, covered overall with a pale olive-green glaze

This crisply carved jar is in good overall condition with the exception of some short hairline firing lines around the foot, some small areas of minute fritting along the edges of the moulded petals and some burst glaze bubbles at the mouth. It should be noted that the jar is of a more olive tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
