Description

the deep rounded sides of the box rising from a short straight foot, the cover of high domed form, profusely and deeply carved overall with nine ferocious scaly dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls, all reserved on a tumultuous wave ground

Condition

There are frittings and chips to the raised parts of the design on both the base and cover, the base has areas of frittings to the rim and footring as well as the usual age cracks to the lacquer on the inside and base. The cover has a semi-circular piece (ca. 15cm) broken out of the rim and missing. There are a age cracks to the interior of the cover.
