comprising: a rare early red lacquer brush holder and cover; an ivory brush holder and cover carved with dragons, wood box; an ivory brush holder carved with a geometric 'cloud' design; a gilt and polychrome black lacquer brush holder and cover, wood box; and a large wood and ivory brush holder with incised mark of Qianlong, fitted box

The brush holders and covers are all in good overall condition with the exception of the following: (as illustrated from left to right) the ivory brush holder has a circa 8mm., hairline age crack ; the carved ivory brush holder and cover has a 2cm., age crack to the cover and associated 4 x 16mm. restoration towards the top end (visible in the illustration); the wood and ivory brush holder has several light hairline age cracks to the ivory; the polychrome lacquer brush holder has a circular crack and depression to the base, the cover has possibble restoration to the black lacquer at the end; the rare red lacquer brush holder has a 1mm diam hole and associated 2mm., hairline age crack to the brush end of the holder, a 5 and 10mm., line of lifting lacquer, minor flakes and light nibbles and scratches, the cover has tiny flakes around the moulded lines and encicling the top end, and nibbles and flaking encircling the open which was probably previosuly bound with metal.
