George Eumorfopoulos (1863-1939) was a British businessman whose interests in Asia enabled him to amass a formidable collection of Asian art. He personally selected the works without the assistance of a curator. A large group of his collection was sold to the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum in 1934. The remaining works were sold through Sotheby's in 1940.

R.L. Hobson was the Keeper of the Department of Ceramics and Ethnography at the Brisith Museum.
