Description

the body of compressed ovoid form, finely carved in high relief on one side with a qilong dragon writhing across the right side, the reverse cleverly carved from the natural small inclusion of russet in the stone with a further qilong dragon on the opposite side, the neck flanked by a pair of loop handles and connected with an openwork chain handle, surmounted by a domed cover, the well polished stone of an even white tone  

Condition

The present piece is in very good condition overall, with just a small nick to the tail of the qilong of approx 0.2 by 0.1cm. There are small areas of russet to the reverse at the foot.
