A BRONZE FIGURE OF AVALOKITESHVARA MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY

well cast, seated in dyhanasana, on a waised pedestal encircledd by two tiers of lotus lappets,  the hands in dhyanamudra, the mudra of meditation, his torso bejewelled with an elaborate tassled pectoral, his shoulder draped with a floral hemmed shawl, the serene face with downcast eyes and a bow-shaped mouth, framed by a five-pointed diadem, long pendulous earlobes weighed down by large earrings and plaits resting on the shoulder, the hair tied in a chignon secured by a smaller hairpiece of the Amitabha Buddha, the surface patina of dark brown tone

The tip of the diadem has broken off. Two of the points have broken off and are missing. There are traces of lacquer left on the face. There is a small chip to the braid on the RHS, and small minor nicks.
