Description

of shallow rectangular form with indented corners, the sides gently tapering towards the base supported on four ruyi-shaped feet, finely carved in crisp relief on the interior with a landscape of steep mountain peaks wreathed in misty cloud swirls, the flat rim decorated with florets floating upon rolling waves, covered overall in a glossy glaze of a subtle blue-green hue

Provenance

Collection of Edward T. Chow.
Sotheby's Hong Kong, 25th November 1980, lot 95.

Condition

There is light expected wear to the bottom of the four feet, but otherwise the piece is in very good condition overall. There are occasional expected pinpricks, and one tiny burst air bubble to the top of the mountain, as visible in the catalogue. The colours are more celadon in tone than the catalogue illustration.
