Catalogue Note

Dishes of this design are extremely rare, and no other appears to have been published.  Compare a similar Kangxi dish, but decorated around the sides on the interior with scrolling peonies and of slightly smaller size, sold in our London rooms, 28th January 1969, lot 100.  This design can also be found on later dishes; for example a Guangxu dish was included in the exhibition Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing from the Kwan Collection, Hong Kong, 1983, front cover, and sold at Christie's Singapore, 30th March 1997, lot 367; and another sold at Christie's London, 14th June 1982, lot 35.
