Description
A fine group of three letters signed by Isabella and Ferdinand V of Aragon, and James VI of Scotland, as below:
Isabella, Queen of Castile & Aragon. Letter, signed ("yo la reyna"), countersigned by the secretary Juan de Coloma, 1 page (9 ¼ x 8 3/8 in.; 235 x 212 mm), Burgos, 28 October 1497, to Pero Vaca, ordering him to pay Pedro de Mendoza and his wife 800 gold florins, tipped on to a sheet, with typed English translation.
Ferdinand "El Catolico," King of Aragon. Letter, signed ("yo el rey"), countersigned by the secretary Lope Conchillos, 1 page (9 ¼ x 8 ¼ in.; 235 x 210 mm), Burgos, 9 June 1508, to the Duque de Infantado [?Diego Hurtado de Mendoza y Luna], ordering that the dowry given at his son Rodrigo's marriage be returned to his wife's parents, Comendador [Pedro de]Ribera and Maria de Medina, now that Rodrigo is deceased, tipped on to a sheet, with typed English translation; repaired tear in blank portion of sheet, a few small tears at folds.
James VI, King of Scotland, later of England. Letter, signed ("James R"), 1 page (10 7/8 x 7 7/8 in.; 277 x 200 mm), "Halyrud House" (Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh), 2 January 1580, to the Earl of Athole, attempting to mediate a dispute with the lairds of Glenorchy [Campbells], expertly silked, tipped on to a sheet, docketing on verso, with typed English translation.
