Catalogue Note
First edition in English, "a vigorous, if unpolished, version of Harvey's book in contemporary language" (Keynes, p. 5), the discovery and experimental proof of the circulation of the blood. Also included in translation is Back's Dissertatio de corde, written in support of Harvey circa 1647, and Harvey's two essays responding to Jean Riolan the Younger who had issued his own theory of circulation in Encheiridium anatomicum (1648).
