Description

A group of three maps comprising:

Green, John.  A Chart of North and South America. London: Robert Sayer & John Bennett, 1775 (North and South America); Robert Sayer & Thomas Jefferys, 1768 (Atlantic and Pacific Oceans). 6 sheets joined as 3 (Sheets of North America and South America: 21 1/2 x 44 in..; 546 x 1117 mm. Sheet of Atlantic and Pacific Oceans: 21 1/2 x 47 1/2 in.; 546 x 1206 mm), handcolored in outline; light offsetting on all 3 maps, one fold reinforced on each map, a few short marginal tears on map of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Holland, N.  [i.e., Captain Samuel Holland].  A New Chart of the Coast of North America. From New York to Cape Hatteras. London: Laurie & Whittle, 1794. 2 sheets joined as one; a few short fold separations, light offsetting. Completed one year before the British Hydrographic Office was formed, this map illustrates a wealth of information essential to navigation: soundings, shoals, and bottom conditions. The shoreline profiles assisted piloting within sight of landmarks. The chart was used well into the nineteenth-century.

[Kitchin, Thomas]. A New and General Map of the Southern Dominions belonging to the United States of America, viz: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia: with the Bordering Indian Countries, and the Spanish Possessions of Louisiana and Florida. London: Laurie & Whittle, 1794. (20 1/2 x 28 1/2 in.; 521 x 724 mm). Taken from Laurie & Whittle's American Atlas (1794), numbered 52. Partially handcolored; somewhat browned, some offsetting.
