Literature

Patrick Mauriès, Serge Roche, Paris, 2006, p. 80 (for an illustration of a console of this model, made for Jansen)
James Archer Abbott, Jansen Furniture, New York, 2007, p. 212 (for an illustration of a double console with the same base)

Condition

A stylish console in good overall condition. Colour of slightly creamier tone than the illustration suggests. Old marks and scratches overall. Wood with some cracks (minor seperation to the constructional joints) and chips, such as to just above the base and in the forward sweep of the fronds. These are typical of age and construction. Images do not show that the piece sits on a small square of marble matching to the top. Marble with some scratches to top and probably not orginal to the piece. A few nicks to the edges. Further images available upon request. A decorative and attractive piece.
