Description

  • 'Dancer with Turban'
  • back of the dress signed 'Phillippe' (sic)
  • 64.5cm.;
  • 2ft 1¼in.
silvered, gilt and cold-painted bronze, ivory and onyx, modelled as a young dancer dressed in an opulent dress and wearing a turban, on a dome-shaped stepped base

Condition

An attractive and large scale model. Some hairline cracks to the ivory. Her lips might be retouched. Her left hand numbered and with traces of old glue. This hand has been restored and is now slightly discoloured and retains a natural crack to the ivory. Some scratches to the bronze in places. Patina possibly retouched. Onyx in good order overall. A striking piece of good overall appearance. Please note that this lot contains ivory which may be subject to export and import restrictions. For example, ivory cannot be imported into the United States. Your attention is drawn to the Endangered Species section in the Guide for Prospective Buyers at the back of the catalogue (Section 4).
