  • 'Sunball': A rare garden seat
  • 150cm. high by 167cm. wide;
  • 4ft 11in., 5ft 5¾in.
manufactured by Rosenthal, orange fibreglass and aluminium, the spherical exterior opening to reveal upholstered seating for two, hinging to provide a footrest, the interior with one fitted tray and a light , on a swivel foot

Condition

An impressive and rare piece of good overall appearance. The colour is more of a brown-orange and less rich in colour than the catalogue illustration suggests. The piece has the original finish and has not been restored. Old marks and scratches in places typical for age and material. Upholstered in the original brown fabric. Losses to the rear inner rim approximately 10cm. and 15cm. long, which are not visible apart from close examination of the interior. Not tested or guaranteed for electricity. A stylish piece. Ready for display.

Catalogue Note

The Sunball chair was advertised at the time as an outdoor model for sunning and relaxing, and was offered with optional light and speakers.

According to Selldorf, around thirty of these chairs were produced.
