Catalogue Note

This vase was one of two commissioned from Marc Newson to serve as centrepieces for his interior at London's 'Coast' restaurant. Newson was commissioned to design the entire two-level interior space and its fittings, including the furniture, tableware, lighting and colour scheme.

The two examples were produced by Venini. The importance of the design of this work is highlighted by the fact that the vase was reproduced on a significantly smaller scale for each of the tables in the restaurant, as can be seen in Morgan (op. cit.).

This piece has been authenticated by Marc Newson.
