Hispano-Philippine, late 17th century

As can be seen in the catalogue photograph, the separately carved arms are missing. Overall condition is good apart from proper right big toe which is missing and left foot which is also chipped off and missing. On the back of the figure he wears a hat which has a chip to ribbon and section of ivory added to rim: this could very well be original as although a different colour the fine lines in the ivory run through from top to bottom. The colour of the ivory is more light honey colour than appears in the catalogue photograph and . There are traces of the original painted scrollwork decoration to the robe. There are fine vertical fissures in the ivory which have ingrained dirt.
